From time to time certain things get on my nerves, some things anger me, and some just really piss me off. Today I am going to talk about a few of those things.
I'm going to start out talking about FreeBSD. I'll give yo a minute to clean the vomit from the corners of your mouth. I'll now give you a few more to stop crying over the feeling of being fisted heavily in the rear. All better? Good. So tell me FreeBSD, why have you just now decided to use an optional graphical installer? For the love of god man you're two years behind Gentoo and Debian! Hell you're 10+ years behind Red Hat in that area, and trust me my friend, that's just terrible!
Honestly you could not pay me to use any BSD, yes I have tried out a few BSD derivatives before, and I can honestly say I felt like taking a crow bar to my own head.
Moving on. My next issue of concern is with Linspire. I don't like it for a few reasons, one it is quite bloated, and two, the Click 'n' Run Warehouse. Are you serious with this thing? Is that supposed to be an improvement of some kind? Actually no, don't even speak you don't deserve it you fail that much. I can think of a nice way to improve it, and that is get rid of it! What's wrong with Synaptic or even good ol' command line Apt? Nothing, that's what.
My Next complaint is with Debian, I know I never thought I'd have huge issues with you either, but we have to talk, I love what you've done with yourself over the years to keep me happy, but your lack of auto detecting my wifi card is starting to piss me off, now I know you want to keep the initial install as freedom loving as possible, but for once i'd like to not have to break out the ethernet cable when using a laptop, it seems kind of stupid. Now make me some dinner.
Lastly, my biggest complaint is with a hardware company, DuraTech USA, they have a nice rugged PDA that would be nice as hell to own and be able to carry to the top of Mt. Everest and back down again without worry. The bad tings about it are price, and the fact that it comes preinstalled with Windows Mobile. But for $2000 you can buy this nifty gadget, attempt to put Linux on it, and possibly end up with the most expensive paperweight you could ever hope to own! That's all for now, and until next time take it easy.
